10th Annual FSOSS Planning

10th Annual FSOSS

In 2002, FSOSS began as a one-day event aimed at bringing together college faculty and staff from across the province to discuss common Open Source concerns, learn new open technologies and to generally promote the use of Open Source software in both our classrooms and our labs. This vision has grown into an annual multi-day event which now brings together developers, educators, industry and students to celebrate open technology.

Open Source is a philosophy and practice that has changed the way software is developed. By encouraging collaboration, often between parties from around the world, Open Source developers create free software that can be continuously updated and shared.

The Seneca Centre for Development of Open Technology (CDOT) provides a physical and virtual environment for the development and research of Open Source products through collaboration with Seneca, the Open Source community, business, and other institutions.

2011 marks the 10th annual Free Software and Open Source Symposium. As an attendee, a presenter or as someone who has a vested interest in open source, we call on you to contribute a vision for the 10th annual FSOSS event.
