Little "s" Semantic: Exploring Metadata About the Web

When someone selects a Creative Commons license they are provided with a chunk of HTML to insert in their webpage which marks it as licensed. Embedded in that HTML is metadata about their work (if provided) and about the license. MozCC 2 is an extension for Firefox 2 which builds a local metadata store as a user browses and provides a visual indication about the license of a page, an image, or other web document. This talk will discuss the challenges of extracting metadata, and the ways in which we're trying to help users visualize information about the web.
