The Seneca Open Source
Symposium is a one-day event aimed at bringing together college
faculty/staff from across the province to discuss common open
source concerns, learn new open source technologies and to generally
promote the use of open source software in both our classrooms
and our labs.
Here at Seneca College,
we think Open Source is a real alternative, and better in many
ways, than traditional, proprietary (closed source) software.
We therefore call on IT teachers/technicians from the four corners
of Ontario to come to Toronto on October 25 for a one-day Open
Source extravaganza. Meals are compliments of Seneca but you must
make your own travel and accommodation arrangements. The symposium
will include short tutorials and demonstrations along with frank
discussions and exchange of ideas.
We are also looking
for speakers (token gifts awarded) to prepare and present short
(20 - 30 minutes) tutorials/presentations on Open Source topics
of their choice.
See you on October
25th.
PS: A limited number of guest passes are available to students. - Registration is mandatory in order to obtain the pass.
